Plot: A

The film has a couple main themes. One of which has to do with how miles reacts to being thrust into the position of spiderman. Miles never backs down from the position and does everything in his power to become like Peter was. This theme is always present and is never abandoned throughout the movie. Another theme is attached to Peter B. Parker. The theme is salvation. Peter B. comes from a timeline where after being spiderman for 20 years he grows old of it and his life begins to fall apart. When he comes to Miles’ dimension the only thing he is concerned with is getting back to his dimension and attempts to keep miles at bay so he can do it himself. By the end of the film Peter B. becomes Miles’ mentor and friend.

Many people who have seen this movie leave amazed by the animation style. Now I must give credit where credit is due, the animation style is certainly original and interacts with the film better than any other. Although this is the first this animation style has been used in a feature film it is important to not be totally distracted by it. The comic-esque style allows for a suspension of belief even the most staunch movie-goers can fall into. That is what makes the movie great.

To sum it up:

SMISV is a classic superhero movie infused with its own personality and flair
