A British man, aged 95, believed to be oldest British Rubik’s Cube solver.

Many people will probably be expecting a formula, or a video, but there is more to solving a rubik’s cube than just actually solving it. Like many good things, solving a rubik’s cube is a journey, not just a destination.

Step 1: Finding A Rubik’s Cube

There are many ways to get a rubik’s cube. A gift from a friend or family member, a toy people get you when they have no idea what you like. And in some rare instances, people even buy a rubik’s cube for themselves.

Step 2: The Reasoning Behind Solving A Rubik’s Cube

After finding a rubik’s cube it’s important you understand why you need to solve it. For some people it may be the puzzle, for others the joy of learning something new. And for some people it could be the fact you messed up your brother rubik’s cube and now he is demanding you solve it (not speaking from personal experience or anything).

Step 3: Finding the Algorithm

This part is relatively easy, you can find a video, or an algorithm that looks like it’s trying to mock you. This is a quick example of an algorithm I found on the internet. I have no idea if it’s correct, but can anyone who is new to a rubik’s cube decipher this: F’ U L’ U’ U R U’ R’ U’ F’ U F? The answer is no, they can’t. No matter how you go about finding an algorithm, make sure it is one you can understand, after that you’re ready for the next step.

Step 4: Using the Algorithm

You may be surprised that this step is separated from step three. However, because of how time consuming this step is I decided to separate it into two parts. It took me about 5 seconds to learn to solve a rubik’s cube, but understand and respect that it takes different people different amounts of time to solve a rubik’s cube. Not everyone can be as amazing as me.

Step 5: Finishing A Cube

“And there it’s done!” You’ve done it, congratulations! Now all that’s left to do is sit back and relax. You’ve finally finished your first cube.
