With 2021 coming to a close, artists and listeners have been preparing for the wave of releases to come in 2022. Already one month into 2022, some amazing albums have been released and even more have been announced. The release of Animal Collective’s Time Skiffs comes with much anticipation due to the band’s reunion after nearly a decade. Members Noah Lennox, Josh Dibb, Brain Weitz, and Dave Portner collaborate to make an album rich in Animal Collective’s iconic sounds. Top tracks include “Dragon Slayer”, “Strung with Everything”, and “Prester John”.

 

Mitski: Laurel Hell

Mitski’s sixth solo studio album is an exploration of her turbulent relationship with her career and life. Nearly four years after the release of Be The Cowboy, Laurel Hell breaks the silence Mitski had created with tracks such as “The Only Heartbreaker”, “Working for the Knife”, and “Love Me More”.

 

Saba: Few Good Things

Few Good Things is Saba’s third studio album, and follows his 2018 critically acclaimed album CARE FOR ME. Few Good Things is intimate and rhythmically rich. The album includes top tracks such as “Survivor’s Guilt”, “Come My Way”, and “Stop That”. Few Good Things features 6LACK, Pivot Gang, Smino, Krayzie Bone, Black Thought, G Herbo, and more.

 

Black Country, New Road: Ants From Up There

Ants From Up There is Black Country, New Road’s second studio album, and the follow-up to their debut album, For the First Time, released in February of 2021. Ants From Up There builds upon Black Country, New Road’s experimental post-punk sound with leading tracks such as “Bread Song”, “Good Will Hunting”, “Basketball Shoes”,  and “Chaos Space Marine”.

 

Yeule: Glitch Princess

London-based songwriter and producer, Nat Ćmiel, released Glitch Princess under their project, Yeule. Glitch Princess incorporates the digital computer world with pure human emotions and situations. Co-produced by Danny L. Harle, this artistic electronic album includes tracks such as “Electric”, “Too Dead Inside”, and “Don’t Be So Hard on Your Own Beauty”.

 

Cate Le Bon: Pompeii

Cate Le Bon’s Pompeii is her sixth solo studio album, and comes nearly three years after her last album, Reward, released in 2019. Pompeii reflects on the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic through artful saxophone rich indie music. The album’s strongest tracks include “Harbour”, “Dirt on the Bed”, and “Moderation”.

 

Erin Rae: Lighten Up

Erin Rae’s second solo studio album, Lighten Up, gives contemporary indie country a 70’s cosmic sound. Produced by Jonathan Wilson and featuring Kevin Morby, Lighten Up includes tracks such as “Candy & Curry”, “Cosmic Sigh”, “Modern Woman”, and “Can’t See Stars”.
