This will be an ongoing column in which Michael will ask Andrew random questions, hopefully ones he doesn’t have good answers to (but he’ll try anyways). This particular edition is a bit of a softball, but if you have any ideas, don’t hesitate to write in. For the record, the original question was “What do you think of the pink tax?”, but his answer — “Uh, it’s obviously bad? What else is there to say?” — was rather too short for our liking.
What does Andrew think of lawn care?
“Lawns are the biggest waste of resources.” Of course lawns are often used as an expression of people’s pride, but as it turns out, many lawns are created using foreign and non-native grasses. So, what we end up with is less biodiversity, unnecessary wastes of water and labor, and general ego inflation. Andrew’s proposed alternative is to plant gardens, particularly with native plants, if you want to express your dedication to cultivation, but of course, that wouldn’t sit so well with the equally hated (by him) HOAs. And he’s perfectly okay with that.
