The Oscars have arrived! Honestly, the fashion was very boring. Nonetheless, there were a few standouts. Here is my ranking of the best and worst fashion of the evening:
Worst Offenders:
Ariana Grande:
This color and sheen of the top looked pretty. But the skirt flared out way too much and the fabric of the skirt looked hideous. The color of the skirt looked like spoiled milk and it did not compliment her skin tone at all.
Zoe Saldaña:
I liked the shade of red in the skirt and it pairs nicely with the black accessories. But the ruffled layers hit her body in weird places making her look frumpy. A different shape for this gown would have been more compelling.
Cynthia Erivo:
In theory I liked the color of the dress. It seemed to be going for a forest green but it looked very black in pictures. I think a slightly lighter green would have worked better. Also I didn’t love the shape of the bodice. The upper chest was like a giant bow while the neck made her seem like a true villain in the worst way. I appreciated that she tried to lean into the Wicked theme but I didn’t think she pulled it off.
Omar Apollo:
Who is this guy? But more importantly, what was this outfit? I don’t think a polka dot shirt should ever be worn under a suit. But on top of that we had a scarf detail with another pattern. A simple scarf in white or gold could have worked. But also what was the head piece? Was he going for a widow look? Please take off the scarf, the headpiece, and lighten your makeup before you step on the red carpet.
Best Dressed:
Selena Gomez:
She looked amazing! The shape of the gown was form-fitting and flattering. She looked regal. I wished the dress was a little darker so it didn’t wash her out, but I think it generally looked stunning.
Colman Domingo:
Under no circumstances should this outfit have worked. The color of the red was so bright it should have been off-putting, but he made it work. It paired perfectly with the black collar and pants, as well as the gold pin on his lapel. Also the belt detail looked beautiful! However, he should never put those sunglasses on.
Rachel Zegler:
I loved the flowyness of the skirt! This color actually flattered her quite well, and her hair and jewelry looked beautiful. I think the dress could have gone a little higher on her chest, but overall this look was stunning.
Elle Fanning:
This dress was very nice! I liked the lace details when paired with the simple neckline. Also the white dress paired very nicely with the black felt belt.
