Thursday, April 24 was breakfast-for-lunch day here at WT. Since there are lots of mixed thoughts around breakfast-for-lunch day, I went around and asked students for their reviews of the menu.
Waffles:
The waffles received mixed reviews. I personally thought they were pretty solid – crispy on the outside and soft inside.
One anonymous reviewer gave the waffles an 8/10, calling them “very fluffy” and “even better with syrup.”
Another gave them a 3, claiming they “tasted okay, but felt like eating cardboard.”
Eggs:
The eggs were underwhelming. They had a really unappetizing green tint and they tasted really bland. I am a big egg enthusiast but even I couldn’t find enjoyment in them.
Junior Xander Kope gave the eggs a 2/10, saying they were “very bland and didn’t taste like much.”
Another interviewee said they were “okay if you add syrup.”
Sausage:
I didn’t try the sausage myself, but from what I heard, I didn’t miss out on much.
One student called the sausages “suspiciously” soft, while another admitted they had a good flavor but were just “way too soft” in texture.
Overall, breakfast-for-lunch isn’t a crowd favorite at WT. It definitely has its defenders — especially when it comes to waffles — but most seemed disappointed in the eggs and sausage. It’s definitely not the worst lunch WT has served, but while it has lots of potential, it’s not topping any favorites lists anytime soon.
