After almost 50 rehearsals, Chicago is here! This is the best show in town, full of scandal, drama, and All that Jazz!
For those not familiar with the story, Chicago follows two murdering spouses as they navigate fame, passion, and legal drama.
The show starred sophomore Abbey Kellenberg as Roxie Hart and junior Natasha Huen as Velma, the aforementioned murdering spouses. Junior Anthony Pipkin was also featured as their razzamatazzing attorney Billy Flynn, while junior Jae Reynolds portrayed the sassy Matron Mama Morton, who runs the jail where Roxie and Velma find themselves among a devilishly murderous group of wronged women. Their singing and acting capabilities blew everyone away, and you could feel the passion radiating from the stage. The ensemble was likewise incredibly talented – their singing, dancing, and acting brought the story to life.
A huge shoutout to Ms. Machenn and Ms. Helstorm for their leadership in putting this fantastic show together! The crew, both backstage and in the light booth must also be acknowledged for their excellent work enhancing the mood and making sure the performances were highlighted in the best way!
A few notable highlights:
The comedy: The entire show had me laughing from crazy dance moves to excellent comedic delivery. Everyone in the audience was cracking up!
The costuming: All of the costumes were stunning and seemed to fit the setting and the characters perfectly! Also, the hair decisions were on point from pinned-up bobs to slicked side parts, it looked fantastic.
If you didn’t get a chance to see this show, you missed a great one. I can’t wait to see what we have in store for these talented students next!
