On October 11, season two of Riverdale came out, and boy did it start out with a bang…literally. But beware of not only the creepy visuals and cliffhangers, but also SPOILER ALERTS!

Season 1 of the show ended with a CLIFFhanger, where we had just found out about Clifford’s drug dealing empire and that he had killed his son. We had also just seen Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews, being shot by an unknown assailant in Pop’s diner. Betty and Jughead’s relationship also seemed to be on the line, since Jughead received his very own Southside Serpent jacket right after a very emotional moment with Betty. Hiram Lodge was expected to return, which was another shock to fans! And to put the cherry (or Cheryl) on top, Cheryl burned Thorngate to the ground, leaving her mother to burn with it.

Many fans wondered how the second season could even possibly hold up comparing to its first, but so far the show has done a pretty good job of picking up where the first left off. We found out right off the bat that Archie’s dad had made it to the hospital alive, and had a chance of survival. We also saw that Cheryl’s mother was in the hospital with third degree burns, but also alive, similar to Fred Andrews. Betty and Jughead’s relationship seemed to still be intact, though a little strained after his eventful first season. A love triangle also seems to be forming as Toni Topaz, a Southside Serpent and Jughead’s friend, starts to become more involved in Jug’s life. It seems like Betty and Jug still plan on starting to help FP reduce his sentence after he was arrested for obstruction of evidence and many other charges in season 1. Hiram Lodge has also begun to stir up trouble.

As for the unknown assailant, he has so far attempted on Midge and Moose’s lives, as well as Fred’s. He has only had one successful kill, which was Ms. Grundy, but he has driven Polly out of the city (due to her fear that the Hooded Man will see her as sinful and target her).

So far, I think the season has been doing really well with keeping the show suspenseful and engrossing. The actors continue to do a good job in their respective roles, and the new characters seem to fit in just perfectly. I can’t wait to see what Riverdale has in store for us as the story unfolds, and I would highly recommend that viewers keep watching!
