Horror and Halloween-Adjacent Movies That Correspond With Classic WT Experiences

As many an unimaginative horror movie has quipped, “high school is hell”—and WT is no exception. Here are a few of my favorite spooky movies that aim to validate the bizarre occurrences that happen every day in these hallowed halls. Go Bears!

The Crow

This goth classic is an especially satisfying watch after you’ve received an A- on an assignment, excessively whined about it to the chagrin of your teacher, friends, parents, finsta followers, and random passersby, and yet you’re still bitter about it. Find it on Netflix.

The Witch

Robert Eggers’ debut feature, an instant entry into the canon of classic horror, is ultimately a nod to one of the most quintessentially-WT experiences to ever exist: that feeling of embracing absolute hedonism as you treat yourself to a big cookie on any given Friday, only to regret it as they aren’t very good anymore (or big, for that matter). Find it on Netflix.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is the perfect Halloween movie to curl up on the couch and watch while you nurse the still-fresh wounds of there being no apple cider during WT Reads. Find it playing on Freeform during its annual 31 Days of Halloween programming schedule, which claims to play other movies but is truly just a 24/7 back-to-back Hocus Pocus marathon.

Hereditary

Hereditary, which was unanimously hailed by critics as the scariest movie of 2018 and perhaps of the last decade, is a perfect parable for that one time you got to school earlier than usual and went into the café to fill up your water bottle only to find that all the lights were off and when you finally left you never really were the same. Find it on Amazon Prime.
