Presidents
“Presidents” is a card game that involves many players in different roles. In this drawing, I show the big powers of the world are playing a game of poker, which involves strategy and risk. Instead of gambling with chips, they gamble with pieces representing their people. Although they are playing for the benefit of their own countries, in the process there will be gains and losses, and the people will have to bear the burden. The player pieces knowing this, nervously stand together. I switch the color of the suits, using red for the King of Spades and black for the Ace of Hearts, hinting that the conventional rules may not apply to this game. The nature of poker and other card games, where cards are continually shuffled and traded suggests that the power shifts among the players.
