Enjoy a night at the The Andy Warhol Museum during its annual Youth Invasion on Friday, April 26th from 5-10pm. Planned by the Warhol Youth Arts Council, This is Not Youth Invasion, will include free activities such as screen printing, gallery talks, exquisite corpse making, live music, buttonmaking, cyanotypes, and more!
Andy Warhol’s distinctive pop art style was inspired by the Dada art movement of the early 20th century and artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Hannah Hoch, and Man Ray. This year’s Youth Invasion will be Dada themed, so absurdity is encouraged! The title, This is Not Youth Invasion, is a play on Duchamp’s The Treachery of Images, which features a pipe with the French words below it for, “This is not a pipe.” Beyond a plethora of arts and crafts, local teen bands will be playing such as The Eds, Kwarter Zip, and WT’s very own, Bigfoot.
Museum admission is free for all teens during Youth Invasion and you can register for a free teen membership at the event that will last for a year. The pros of attending are infinite, and I can guarantee that you will have a blast! Don’t forget to bring a friend for a night of absurd fun, live music, and good food.
