After a successful year ending as section champs, WPIAL 3rd place, and state quarterfinalist, a few members of the Winchester Thurston Bears Soccer team wrapped up the season with Instagram posts. These posts are a good way to show people pictures, highlights, and memories from the season; They ranged from seniors whose school soccer careers came to an end to sophomores and juniors, ready for the next season. However, while some of these posts were good, others didn’t quite meet the mark. In this article, I will be ranking the 8 posts that were made.
- Firstly, and with a unanimous vote from a couple of seniors, was Nick Croft. According to seniors on the team, Zac Balk and Ian Becker, Nick had the best song. His pictures were top tier and varied with celebrations flics, dribbling, and team photos. #7out in the caption was the cherry on top
- With a close second, Ian Becker. Good song choice and high quality pictures of celebrations, dribbling, and set pieces. Bonus points with the cool font in the caption
- Jonny Balk squeezed in the top 3 with his post. Great post and great song choice. Also high quality photos. Had potential to be second, but unfortunately, the comment section was not up to par. An example of this was Sajaan saying a dull “Nice”
- In fourth place is Ed. He had arguably the best pictures, specifically slides 8 and 9, which had his celebration infront of the Brockway student section. Unfortunately, the clips were blurry and the song was in French, I think…
- In fifth comes Julien. Nice pictures and the clips were bangers. But the Frank Ocean method is patched buddy.
- In sixth place is John. Even as our team MVP, I unfortunately had to rank you this low. You had very good pictures and the senior pics were a nice addition, but sadly there was no music and that took away a lot of points.
- Kope you came in 7th. I see what you tried with the serious song and the funny caption, but your juxtaposition was all off; you didn’t even play the good part of the song, making the viewer awkwardly listen to a man speaking Spanish. That little element ultimately decreased the effectiveness of the juxtaposition. However, your caption was quite amusing. Your pictures were all good except for slide 10.
- In 8th place comes Benji. Benji Benji Benji… you made a retirement post as a junior, and that speaks for itself. But I also have to point out that there were way to many pictures from Steel City FC for a post that was supposed to mark the end of the HIGHSCHOOL season.
- In last but not least, Nate. To start off, you had a poorly timed post, potential commenters and reposters were too busy or fatigued from commenting on the seniors’ posts. The comment section was also not up to standard. Firstly, you got called out by @412_Photos because you didn’t give him credit. The pictures didn’t have enough depth, as my analysts were able to deduce that your first 3 pictures were not only from the same game, but also the same play.
These rankings were honest and were influenced by feedback from your fellow peers. If you have any complaints or questions, email my representative Zac Balk.
Hopefully, next year, as @412_Photos sharpens his photography and with articles like this instructing you what not to do, the team will produce even better posts than this year.
