After another joyous Promenade at Dear Old WT, Ms. Belfiore, Dr. Durnan and I were sharing stories from our own Proms. Capturing a period of the late ‘00s to the early 2010s, our experiences cement a beautiful time in Prom history where DJ Khaled and Ke$ha ruled the radio, the fake tans were orange, and the night was young.
Dancing was mostly jumping up and down in a circle with my friends while screaming the lyrics. After Cascada’s Everytime We Touch, the boys removed their rented tuxedo shirts, leaving them in neon vests. The girls were wearing their date’s neckties on their heads. When the chaperones managed to get us off the dance floor, we were sweaty, we were hoarse, and we were sore.

I can’t help but notice that dancing has fallen off in recent years of chaperoning prom. I wonder if the hits of today aren’t cutting it. Maybe we need to look to the past for our next Prom playlist?
Consider, this compiled list of the songs I recall from my golden Prom days.
*Please note – these songs may contain language that is not school or radio edited, and is a product of the era, so don’t take this as approval from WT to play these songs as they are!!!*
I would only say that no matter the playlist, stop worrying about being cool at prom and get out there on the dance floor!!!
